Associate Corporate Development

Responsible for:
Financial modeling and market analysis in support of a global business development and sales strategy

Job Description:

  • Support business development efforts via analysis of global development opportunities including financial analysis, market analysis, industry research, and partner identification
  • Create detailed financial models to support fundraising, licensing, plant construction, and market entry
  • Play a key role on cross-functional teams that include senior members of Calysta’s sales and marketing, engineering, and legal teams
  • Research and analyze industries, countries, companies and business models
  • Perform a broad range of financial and strategic analyses
  • Support CFO with financial planning and analysis, as required

Skills, Knowledge and Special Attributes Needed for this Position:

  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, corporate development, or venture capital
  • Strong history of accounting, corporate finance and valuation experience; licensing experience is a plus
  • Excellent communications skills with an ability to summarize key takeaways for senior management
  • Highly proactive with an ability to work both independently and as part of the team
  • Extraordinary focus on details, accuracy and quality, but also understand the bigger picture
  • Superior analytical and modeling skills (Excel and PowerPoint)

Manager, Quality Assurance

Calysta is facing a very exciting time with increased activity and the establishment of our FeedKind Market Introduction Facility at the Wilton Centre, Teesside. We seek To develop and monitor a comprehensive Quality Assurance approach that encompasses the people, policies, and procedures involved in each stage of production: employee training, standard operating procedures, critical control points, sampling and analytical schedules, reporting systems, and review processes including quality specifications for ingredients and their traceability, through manufacturing processes and packaging, to finished feed delivery. This role will also require running aquaculture trials to ensure that our feed quality meets or exceeds the prospective customer requirements.

Calysta will be hiring scientists to establish a quality assurance team in Calysta UK, including:

  • Manager, Quality Assurance

The candidates will have a broad quality assurance background and experience within the animal health/feed industry. In collaboration with Calysta headquarters, this role will require the establishment of a robust quality system.  The candidate must be able to work both independently and within a small team environment.

Responsibilities:

  • To ensure the product conforms to the company’s nutritional and physical specfications when the product is sold or delivered.
  • To incorporate regulatory requirements and any third-party certification program requirements in place at the Company.
  • To observe the quality of ingredients during receiving, monitoring the manufacturing process, and to evaluate the color and texture of fnished feed in order to increase sales, optimize fish performance, and maximize profitsbased on specific market demands and the design of the aquaculture production systems being served.
  • To develop detailed SOPs that ensure a safe high-quality feed is manufactured and delivered to the customer.This should include SOPs for receiving and grinding ingredients, manufacturing feed, process control, batching, pelleting, packaging, labeling and delivering finished feed (such as ingredient sampling, finished feed sampling, particle size analysis and pellet quality determination).
  • To ensure that employees receive training on standard operating procedures.
  • To develop ingredient specification sheets that can be included as part of the purchasing process. Each ingredient specification sheet should include the ingredient definition, typical nutrient values, analyticalreference methods, physical properties, basis for rejecting ingredients, and statements that address regulatory compliance.
  • To identify important steps in each process and to define critical control points that must be monitored throughout the manufacturing process for evaluating product quality.
  • To train the QA team to identify critical control points within the feed proces. However, critical control points can be expanded beyond hazards that have the potential to result in unsafe feed for aquacultures to include monitoring all the processes that affect the total quality of the finished feed. Examples of critical control points within the manufacturing process may include testing ingredients for aflaxatoxins, scale certification, formula verification prior to batching, and moisture content of finished feeds.
  • Willingness to travel (15-20%)

Fermentation Specialist

Calysta will be hiring a fermentation Specialist for the fermentation team, with expertise in:

  • Microbial fermentation

The candidate will have biological background and experience with microbial fermentation, sample extraction and analysis using a variety of different methods and tools. The job holder will also be responsible for equipment maintenance and assay execution, as well as data analysis, and results in-terpretation and presentation. The role will require a M.Sc./MPhil in Fermentation/Microbiology, Molecular biology or related field, with hands-on experience of handling fermentation processes and equipment.
