Microbiology Analyst

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Work in compliance with EHS standards
  • Monitoring the microbiology quality and safety of the manufacturing process
  • Testing raw materials, intermediates and finished product
  • Identifying microorganisms using a range of microbiological and molecular biology       techniques
  • Preparing microbial cell banks for manufacturing and R&D
  • Developing, implementing and validating microbiological and molecular biology methods
  • Developing procedures for quality control within organisation, products, and laboratory analytics
  • Data analysis to form conclusions and plan future experimental work
  • Routine tasks required to support lab activities including but not restricted to autoclaving, general lab housekeeping, stock maintenance, running and maintaining laboratory equipment
  • Ensuring lab cleanliness and safety standards are maintained.
  • Lead and participate in tasks within R&D and production

Requirements:

  • Degree in Microbiology or related subject
  • At least 2 years’ experience within microbiology in a manufacturing or academic environment
  • Molecular biology experience would be an advantage
  • GMP experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills
  • Team player with ability to work under own initiative
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functions with engineers, scientists and operators.
  • Self-motivated, proactive and flexible in a fast-moving environment
  • Analytically minded, result and solution focussed
  • Willing to work outside normal working hours
  • Willingness to travel

Sr./Jr. Laboratory Analyst

Reports to:
Lead Analyst

Responsibilities:

  • Work in compliance with EHS standards
  • Perform routine & non routine analytical testing using HPLC, MP-AES and UV spectroscopy
  • Communicate with technical experts, engineers and operators
  • Work to SOP/WIN and update as required
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and consumable stock levels
  • Develop and implement new and improved methods of analysis
  • Oversee the technical transfer of methods between laboratories
  • Participate in internal inspections and follow up corrective actions
  • Write and update SOP/WIN

Requirements:

  • B.Sc. in chemistry or related subject
  • 2-8 years of experience working in an analytical laboratory
  • Knowledge of COSHH and EHS standards
  • Experience with a variety of modern analytical techniques including HPLC, GC and MP-AES, UV spectroscopy
  • NIR experience would be an advantage
  • Experience working in a busy analytical laboratory supporting a production plant
  • Writing and reviewing SOP/WIN
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Team player with ability to work under own initiative
  • Some working outside normal working hours may be required
  • Opportunities to travel for work including commissioning new plants overseas may be available
  • Experience working in the feed manufacturing industry or a GMP environment would be an advantage
